A late 19th century French musical automated clock diorama
The dial and movement signed Haupsberg à Paris
The ornate giltwood frame with beaded edge and gilt bordered glass to the country riverside scene with a well painted background and sky with electrical back light, a smithy and a clock tower either side of a bridge, the clock mechanism with anchor escapement and and silk suspension over the strike train with external countwheel striking on a gong and automata to the bell tower, when the automata is operated by the pull bar at the side of case, two blacksmiths hammer while another operates the bellows, a procession of horse drawn vehicles travel across the bridge and the water wheel turns 77cm (2ft6.5in) x 104cm (3ft5in)
