A rare large Meissen vase and cover
circa 1730-35
With a 'Seladon' ground, the vase of baluster shape with turned bands around the straight neck, the domed cover a pointed, gilded finial, the pale turquoise ground reserving quatrelobed panels brightly painted with fantastic birds, plants and insects, within cartouches of a gold scale pattern, the cover with further insect panels within a different gilded pattern, 46cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze blue (finial broken off and restored, small section of cover rim repaired) (2)
