An important Lowestoft teapot and cover
circa 1768-70
Of globular shape with a low-domed cover, flower finial and distinctive curved spout, finely painted in an attractive palette of puce, turquoise, orange, blue and two tones of yellow, with a Chinese figure scene before an olive green fence, a servant offering a tray of fruit to a seated man and his standing lady companion, the reverse with an imaginary tower structure and a large fruiting tree, a bird in flight and a yellow peony spray on the cover, within red crowfoot borders, 14cm high (minute chip to finial) (2)
