A large 'Dutch Jug'
circa 1757
Cabbage leaf moulded, the deep ribbed neck applied with a double scroll handle, a formal border of leaves around the neck rim, fully painted with the colourful 'Mobbing Birds' pattern, comprising a large pair of birds in a tree surrounded by other delightful smaller birds and insects in flight, the leaf border picked out in shades of bright green edged with puce scrolls, further scrollwork on the handle, 26.5cm high (some fine body cracks)
