Enamel, signed on the obverse with initial S, signed, dated and inscribed on the counter-enamel G. Mercer Esqr./ Spicer pix.t/ 1781, silver-gilt frame.

  • Mercer was a member of the Masons Livery Company and became a Master in 1763. Residing near Cavendish Square in London, he gave the present mace to the Company upon his appointment as Father in 1791.
