MANUSCRIPT PSALTER
Psalter in Latin, manuscript on paper, glossed, with calendar, abbreviations of the psalms and prayers, 195 leaves, perhaps wanting initial (?blank) leaf, otherwise complete, the Psalms written 10 lines per page with extensive commentary between and in all margins, ruled in brown ink, probably in more than one cursive hand, capitals in red and green, small capitals touched in red, 4 large illuminated initials with beasts (40-50mm. high) in red, green and brown, other large initials in red or green, catchwords occasionally visible (but trimmed), nineteenth century English half calf, marbled boards, worn, joints cracked, folio (295 x 200mm.), [Southern Germany, c.1437]

  • An interesting psalter on paper, concluding with the date 1437. The psalter is extensively glossed between lines and in all margins according to the commentary of St Augustine and probably others. The calendar contains feasts for Saint Walburga (in red, May 1) who is associated with Eichstatt; Bishop Udalrich (in red, July 4) who is associated with the Diocese of Augsburg; and a saint with associations with the shores of Lake Constance: St Gall (in red, October 16).

25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £2,500 up to and including £300,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
