Bechstein No. 47992 (circa 1898)
A 6ft 8in Model V grand piano, in an elaborate satinwood veneered, painted and parcel gilt case, the lid painted with a border of laurel leaves, berries and ribands, the keyboard lid with a musical trophy to a green ground, the sides painted five times with a different version of a naked classical maiden seated in a landscape each within an oval gilt panel with riband cresting, within further rectangular green painted panels, the music desk of pierced rectangular form painted with a central twin handled classical urn and leaves, on three giltwood scallop shell, leaf and floret carved cabriole legs to claw and ball feet, with a matching upholstered seat giltwood rectangular stool with rounded ends, stamped numbers to the underside of the frieze, '35503, 4934', 110cm wide.
