An Attic black-figure pottery lekythos
Late 6th Century B.C.
Decorated with a scene, showing two naked standing warriors holding spears, a central mounted warrior holding a spear with a shield strapped to his back, and an attendant in a full-length himation holding a spear standing on the right, with two running lions on the shoulder, 4in (10cm), neck repaired; an Attic red-figure squat pottery lekythos decorated with a dolphin, late 6th Century B.C., 35/8in (9.3cm) high, some wear; and an Attic black-figure pottery skyphos decorated on both sides with a central palmettes flanked by bunches of fruit, set on a pad base with two upturned handles, late 6th Century B.C., 3¼in (8.1cm) high, repaired, with a little restoration (3)

  • Provenance:
    Inherited by the current private owner from her mother, who bought them in Brussels between 1983-1988, each accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The black-figure lekythos was acquired from Galerie Archaeologia on 25th September 1988 and is from an old collection. The red-figure lekythos was purchased from Galerie P.L. Minsart on 6 July 1983 and is said to be from Sicily. The skyphos was acquired at Galerie Archaeologia on 8th May 1987 and is from an old collection.
