An early 19th century ivory and horn chess set, Vitzagapatam
The kings and queens with pierced and carved crowns, the bishops with split, feather form mitres, the knights as arched horses heads, the pawns with lotus bud finials, all on slender baluster form stems, with lotus carved bases,the rooks as castellated towers with domed canopies, lacking two knights, some pieces with small chips, king 11.5cm, pawn 5cm.
