Of book form, decorated in penwork with borders of scrolling foliage and patera, the two convex spines decorated with faux tooling in the form of a repeating chain of foliate motifs interspersed with a wreath and patera, the hinged exterior for chess and inlaid with ivory and horn squares, the edges of the box trimmed with horn, the interior for backgammon and inlaid with ebony and penwork decorated ivory lozenges and bands, lacking small section of horn edging, age cracks, 46 x 25cm, with an early 19th century ivory, conical form shaker, 6.5cm.
