A Pratt Ware 'Hearty Good Fellow' Toby jug, circa 1820

Possibly John Walton, modelled standing and holding a foaming jug in his right hand and a glass in his left, attired in a blue-trimmed tricorn hat and jacket, patterned waistcoat and yellow breeches, the rocky base sponged in green. 28.5cm (small chip and hairlines to hat)

Footnotes

One of the variations of 'Hearty Good Fellow', this jug has a glass in the left hand instead of the usual pipe. According to Vic Schuler in his book British Toby Jugs, a Walton marked example of this form can be found in the British Museum.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
