Pierre Courteys or Courtois (French, 1520-1586) was a Limoges enamel painter and a pupil of the renowned Pierre Raymond, enameller noted for his elegant figures and vigorous painting style. He dated his objects from 1544 to 1568. Pierre Courteys adapted an undated series of engravings of the Labors of the Months by Etienne Delaune for his set of enamels of the months

The present plates can be closely compared to a set of six similar calendar plates, dated circa 1750 by Pierre Courteys sold by Duke, Dorset, 15 December 2006.
