A Liège Flintlock Box-Lock Pistol In The So-Called 'Queen Anne' Style

With fixed cannon barrel in three stages separated by turned mouldings, some of them beaded, the breech section octagonal then sixteen-sided and cut in low relief with foliate trails issuing from shaped panels all on a punched and gilt ground, the topmost panel signed 'Massin', the intermediary section cut with spiral panels enclosing trails of flowers and foliage on a punched and gilt ground, the rear of the breech with stepped concave moulding, the tang, action, trigger-guard, side-plate and pommel all cut in low relief on a punched and gilt ground in similar fashion to the breech, moulded figured walnut butt carved in relief with scrolls at the rear of the barrel tang, iron baluster forward ramrod-pipe, and iron ramrod originally retained by a catch (now missing) housed within the front of the trigger-guard, the tang of the trigger-guard engraved 'P.F.' (iron parts with some rust-staining)
