With tapering barrels slightly belled at the muzzles and with brass spider fore-sight, one barrel in two stages and the other in three, both octagonal breech sections with applied brass panels decorated in relief variously with acanthus foliage, strapwork, and a grotesque mask, the rear of one breech struck with a mark, a standing halberdier (Neue Støckel 5067), swelling tangs each with overlaid brass plate engraved with differing designs of acanthus foliage, one with integral back-sight, signed faceted brass locks each with engraved raised waved border and decorated with foliage against a hatched ground on the central flat and on the brass panel on the cock, faceted jaws and steels, the latter each with spur of triangular section, one lock retaining much of its original blued finish on the internal parts, moulded lightly craved figured walnut full stocks each with a raised stepped panel at the barrel tang, and a double protrusion carved in relief with foliated scrollwork against a punched ground on each side at the ramrod-entry, cast and chased brass mounts decorated in the Régence style, pierced side-plates of foliated strapwork involving a differing male profile portrait bust, faceted trigger-guards each with acanthus finials, faceted butt-plates en suite, pierced foliate escutcheons each charged with a profile bust of a man holding a sword and with coronet above, four turned and faceted ramrod-pipes, the rearmost (one repaired) decorated with a grotesque mask in relief, and brass-capped wooden ramrods, the butt-plates engraved respectively 'No. 64' and 'No. 65' (one ramrod associated, the iron parts with minor surface pitting) (2)
