Footnotes

  • This late 1820s take on a mid-eighteenth-century tripod table is one of Gillows' most characteristic designs. From 1827 their Estimate Sketch Books are informed by a vigorous, but freely interpreted, rococo revivalism, the results often surpassing Chippendale period originals in terms of their carving and proportions.
