F. E. Schutz (German, fl.late 18th Century)
A silhouette of Frederick II of Prussia (Frederick the Great) (1712-86), profile to the left, seated astride his horse, wearing the uniform of the Prussian Life Guards, with red collar and cuffs, breast star of the Royal Prussian Order of the Black Eagle and tricorn hat adorned with rosette, woodland setting.
Painted on the reverse of glass in colour against a black ground, signed on obverse and dated F.E. Schutz Fecit 1791, turned wood frame with gilded inner border.
