Footnotes

  • The "sur plateau" musical movement was perfected by Isaac Daniel Piguet who was born in Le Brassus near Geneva in 1775. He and his partner Philippe-Samuel Meylan were famed for the superb quality and extremely thin musical pocket watches and snuff boxes that they produced using this type of musical movement. The partnership lasted from 1811 until 1828 and several examples of their work formed part of famed collections such as the Tulace collection of Egypt and King Farouk.
