Thinly potted and carefully enamelled with a copy of a famille verte pattern of archaic vases and other precious 'Antiques' alternating with panels of flowering plants and insects, a border of hatched chevrons in red around the inside rim, a further plant within a red circle painted in the base, 6.7cm (2 5/8in) diam, workman's mark painted in black enamel

  • Simon Spero (2006), figs. 128 and 129 illustrates a similar teabowl and saucer in the A.J. Smith collection together with a Chinese hexagonal beaker from the Kangxi period, which clearly served as the source for this design produced at Worcester fifty years later. A similar teabowl was in the Billie Pain collection sold in these rooms, Bonhams 26 November 2003, lot 147. Another teabowl and saucer in the H Rissik Marshall collection is illustrated by Dinah Reynolds (1989), pl. 8, fig. 766. A matching coffee cup was in the Zorensky collection, part 3, 22 February 2006, lot 1.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
