1936 Austin 10hp Sherbourne Saloon
Registration no. VL 8233
Chassis no. G94311
Engine no. 16110180
Introduced in 1932, the Austin Ten would prove an outstanding success, outselling every other Austin, including the Seven, from 1933 to 1939. This Sherborne saloon was bought by the vendor’s late husband at Bonhams’ Harrogate Sale on 13th June 2002 (Lot 481). At that time the car was described as the subject of a past restoration benefiting from a rebuilt engine, relined clutch and new road springs. Post acquisition the vendor joined the North East Club for Pre-War Austins and ‘VL 8233’ has been featured in many of the Club’s magazines (copies included). Reported as to factory specification apart from the addition of flashing indicators at the rear, the car is offered with service manual, handbook, spare parts list, The Book of the Austin Ten, expired MoTs dating back to 2001, old-style logbook, current road fund licence/MoT and Swansea V5.
