"Impressions Photographic & Otherwise/ California/ 1907", kept by Francis Burnham Rigby (1878-1918), an electrical engineer seasoned traveller from Manchester, with the foreword "It is not my intention in this little booklet to give any minute description of people or places but merely to chronicle my impressions of this part of California, and illustrate it with photographs taken, either by my camping partner Mr Morcom, or myself, the small Brownie photos being taken by my partner, the larger Kodak ones by myself./ My criticisms of American ways and methods are simply from personal observation, with as our American friends would say 'all the bias and prejudice of an Englishman'./ I would say that this book was produced, even to the binding, in the open, under camp conditions", with the text on the left-hand page and photographs facing on the right; the photographs recording San Francisco bay (with paddle steamer), Tamalpias (and station at top), Blythdale, their tent, Van Wyck's, Morcom at camp and hunting, 'Annette' (a fine study of a child à la Japonaise), the Berkeley Hills, camp in Indian Gulch, the Anana (Berkeley Yacht Club), Vallejo (Yacht House), Mare Island (with US armed cruisers), USS Cincinnati, Eddy Street (shew wreckage), the ruined City Hall, "View of San Francisco from 925 Franklin St", "Call. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
