Footnotes

  • Lola was ultra competitive in the European Sportscar Championship from its instigation in 1970 when these small 2-litre prototypes became very popular. Consisting of mainly Lolas and Chevrons at first, the series later expanded to encompass a wide variety of makes and types. Many well known drivers competed in the Championship but following the 1974 ‘fuel crisis’ it was cut short after only two races of the 1975 season. The FIA Sportscar Championship reappeared in Europe in 1978 when motor sport’s governing body downgraded the short-lived World Championship after only two years of its existence. For 1979 the new European series disappeared too, merging most of its entries with the Interserie and Italian Group 6 Championship.
At the time of going to press, research into this car is on-going. More information should be available by the time of sale.

Saleroom notices

  • Chassis no. believed to be T380 HU1 We have been informed by Lola Heritage that they believe this car to be Lola T380 chassis serial HU/1 and NOT a T390 as had been suspected. Lola Heritage's records indicate that T380 HU/1 was delivered originally to Alain de Cadenet during March 19'75 - subsequently being raced in a wide variety of events until 1981 when it was sold to Dorset Racing. Between July 1981 and June 1982 it was deployed in at least four races wearing Dorset colours and subsequently was entered by Ian Harrower until at least June 1983. Although we cannot confirm this, the inference is that the 'Dorset Racing' liveried body panels carried on Lot 665 may be a body removed from this individual chassis and replaced by the updated bodywork offered here.
