Footnotes

  • Robert Hofstatter, born 13 April 1883 in Vienna, studied in Vienna and Heidelberg. Graduating in 1907 in Vienna he had a number of distinguished teachers including Chrobak, von Rosthorn, Wertheim and Esdelsberg. In 1919 he was appointed to the training staff in obstetrics and gynaecology.

    Professorships were awarded in 1939 and 1951. Standing out amongst his 228 scholarly articles is his pioneering work in endocrinology, on the pituitary and pineal glands and, not least the health of working women, smoking-related illnesses and cancer.

    Hofstatter was a member of the Austrian and International Scientific association, as well as a member of the German Society for Gynaecology and Obstetrics; in 1958, he was elected Honorary Member of the Austrian Cancer Institute.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £2,500 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £2,500 up to and including £300,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
