    Note:
Adelheid Dietrich was born in Germany and studied with her father, the painter Eduard Dietrich. There are fifty known works by her, nearly all of them floral still lifes rendered in a style which emulates the flower paintings of the Dutch Golden Age. In this work a profusion of blooms and grasses tumble down a stone ledge with a blue sky beyond, each flower acutely observed and deftly painted. Dietrich's technical brilliance as well as her keen sense of color unite in this picture to create a composition which delights the eye.
