Dated 1948 in the catalogue. 'In 1943 a European friend showed the artist a book of reproductions of mediaeval French paintings. This was one of the results. Note the Christian symbols used: the fish (symbol of the early Church) and at the foot of the picture the shoot sprouting from a piece of dead wood.'
