Serial no. 5317. 12 gauge. 28 inch dove-tailed replacement barrels by the makers. Game rib with two beads. Casehardened bar-action engraved with fine bouquet and scroll. Single trigger. Ejectors. Automatic safety. Gold-lined cocking indicators. Beaded triggerguard. Finely checkered replacement straight-stock of contrasting highly figured walnut. Checkered butt. Drop points. Vacant oval. Finely checkered splinter fore-end.
Later British-made leather trunk case with maroon interior. Leather corners. Leather reproduction maker’s label. Cleaning rod, nickel-silver oil bottle.
Condition: Excellent as redone. Replacement barrels show 99 percent bluing. Excellent bores. Action shows 94-96 percent muted case colors. Triggerguard bluing shows wear to grip. Replacement stock shows sharp checkering and slight handling marks. Case is in excellent condition with light spotting.
Data: Barrel Dimensions: Bores: 0.730/0.730 inches. Chokes: 0.018/0.026 inches (Improved/Improved Modified). Chambers: 2 ¾ inches. Wall Thickness: 0.030 inches. Proof (suspected as spurious): London, Nitro, .729/.729, 3 ¼ ton, 2 ¾ inches. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 14 ½ inches. Drop at comb: 1 ½. Drop at heel: 2 1/8. Cast: none. Weight: 6 pounds 11 ounces.
