1991 Peter Max Custom Dodge Caravan
Chassis no. 2B4GK25K8MR158903
Peter Max was one of the Pop Art worlds sensations during the 1960s and early 1970s. His images used bold colors and made the most of flowers and stars and other feel-good symbols of the error.
In 1991, MTV commissioned pop artist Peter Max to paint a mural using a Dodge Caravan mini-van as his canvas. Starting with a new white Caravan, Max used a background that started as light blue at the vans prow and was graded to a darker shade of blue by the time he reached its stern. Stars, flowers, mountains and planets are depicted in Maxs inimitable style.
After the promotion was complete, a drawing was held to give away the rolling work of modern art. Although the commission fee was $50,000, the van was valued at $100,000 and accompanied with enough cash to cover the resulting taxes.
Almost fifteen years later, the four-cylinder, automatic transmission-equipped Caravan has covered a mere 20 miles and is absolutely brand new and unique in every respect.
