The enamel dial with Roman numerals inscribed Isidore, Grenot, Edidit, time and strike movement stamped with a conjoined IG, housed within an upright rectangular case with low relief figural panel depicting and titled CORNWALLIS RESIGNING HIS SWORD TO WASHINGTON, surmounted by the bust of George Washington wearing military uniform and epaulets, inscribed on socle First in War, First in peace, and first in the hearts of his Countrymen supported on a rectangular plinth fronted by a wingspread eagle with banner inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM clutching arrows and olive branch in his talons, reserved against stars, clouds and sun rays, all on the backs of four turtles.
