Humphrey Bogart's trademark trenchcoat he wore as Rick Blaine in Casablanca publicity campaign
Warner Brothers, 1943. Although not appearing in the film, this trench coat was worn by Humphrey Bogart in the publicity photos and campaign for Casablanca, one of the greatest films of the 20th century. The Warner Brothers label is sewn into the collar, upon which is printed: "Date: Feb 1942 / Prod. 410 / Name H. Bogart / Casablanca / Size 39". One of Bogart's most iconic portrayals and a signature piece of Hollywood history. As time goes on, Casablanca endures as one of the best-loved films ever made. Humphrey Bogart, proprietor of the Café Americaine is an American expatriate and war profiteer in WWII Morocco. When love returns to his life in the form of a luminous Ingrid Bergman, he takes up the cause of the French resistance. Casablanca is a masterpiece which continues to improve with age. Eight Academy Award nominations including Best Actor for Bogart, and winner of three: Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay. It's hard to think of another accoutrement more closely associated with Humphrey Bogart, the man with the sad eyes, and permanent snarl who was voted top male leading actor of the 20th century by the American Film Institute.

This quality garment is in remarkably good condition for its age, and was made by Aquascutum Ltd. of England.
Provenance: Purchased from Red Baron Auctions of Atlanta, Georgia in 1986; represented as being consigned by a friend of the Bogart family.
