A George III mahogany musical tall case clock

Second half 18th century
The hood with swan's neck pediment headed by gilt metal florets and surmounted by three gilt metal mounted ebonized finials, the blue painted frieze gilt heightened with scrolls and foliage centered by an armorial device and painted with two small vignettes depicting figures at labor, flanked by turned tapered columns, the trunk enclosed by a long panel door between gilt metal mounted quarter round fluted columns, raised on ogee bracket feet, the thirteen inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring having Roman and Arabic numerals with date indicator and center sweep seconds hand, the center painted with a scene of a ruined building below an armorial device all within cast scroll spandrels, the rolling moon phase to the arch painted with scenes of figures before a country house and figures in a parkland setting, the three train movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a bell, the tune striking on nine bells with fifteen hammers.
