1904 Waddington 3hp

1904 Waddington 3hp
Registration no. AJ 291 (See below)
Engine no. 2915
The Waddington was one of many small manufacturers, in this case believed to have been based in Teesside, producing machines soon after the turn of the 20th Century using their own cycle parts but adopting proprietary engines. This example, one of just two examples that we know of, is powered by a Fafnir engine with a bore of 75mm. It is believed to date from 1904, or perhaps earlier, and appears to be significantly complete in most respects although careful inspection is essential. It was acquired as a restoration project many years ago by the present owner and will be a welcome entry on The Pioneer Run. Although there are no documents with the bike the present owner has copies of North Yorkshire Registration Records confirming its existence in 1910.
