A fine Regency painted and penwork sarcophagus form work box,
the lid depicting a view of William Beckford's Fonthill Abbey amid trees with elegant figures on the driveway, within a concave mould decorated with flowers and leaves, the sloping sides with acorns and oak leaves, gilt brass corncucopia ring handle and paw feet, the interior with a pen work lid fall depicting the original Fonthill in ruins with cattle and hand in the foreground, over a compartmentalised and lidded tray with two pen work lids, 30cm wide, 22.5cm deep, 14cm high.
