Footnotes

  • A miniature by Robertson depicting a Miss Margaret Macleod was exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, in 1821 (no.698). She was presumably sister to the present sitter. A Wilhelmina Macleod (born 4 April 1786) daughter of John Macleod (1748-1818) and Ann Mackenzie (1758-1840) is recorded. However, it has not been possible to ascertain whether this is the same lady as the present sitter.
