Footnotes

  • Ole Worm (1588-1654), a physician, collected numerous samples of stuffed animals, skeletons, minerals and other natural history curios, exhibiting them in his own museum in his home town of Copenhagen. This work, a catalogue of the museum exhibits, was published by his son the year after Ole's death, and the museum was acquired for the royal collection by King Frederick III. This copy appears to have belonged to Nehemiah Grew (1641-1712), the author of Musaeum Regalis Societatis, 1681 and The Anatomy of Plants, 1682.

Saleroom notices

  • This copy was probably sold with a copy of Grew, rather than being owned by him
