A rare Dutch Delft model of a stag
circa 1770
by De Porceleyne Schotel, standing four square with its head turned slightly to its left, the head with holes to receive carved wooden antlers, its fallow markings picked out in manganese, on a rectangular base with sloping sides and chamfered corners, painted in yellow, ochre, green and manganese to simulate marble, 23.2cm high excluding antlers, painted mark (loss to one ear and adjacent area of head, one carved wooden antler lacking)
