A .50/70 Sharpes 1863 New Model Breech-Loading Conversion Centre-Fire Carbine

With sighted lined barrel rifled with three grooves and retained by a spring-held barrel band, the breech stamped 'New Model 1863' behind the Lawrence patent calibrated folding adjustable back-sight, characteristic breech, back-action lock stamped 'R.S. Lawrence Pat April 12th 1859' and 'C. Sharps' Pat Oct 5th 1852', figured butt and fore-end (some bruising), the former (minor repair) stamped with inspector's mark, 'DFC' mark and '7 Cav.' above roughly carved initials 'A.K', steel butt-plate, hinged trigger-lever with locking-catch, and slender saddle-bar and ring

  • The serial number range is consistent with the use of these carbines by the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry and the 5th Illinois Cavalry. Post Civil War conversions were re-issued to cavalry units serving on the Western Frontier

27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
