With bright sighted barrel retained by two spring-held barrel bands, calibrated folding adjustable back-sight, sprung hinged breech-block secured by a spring thumb-catch on the right side and dated 1870 above an eagle head, crossed arrows and 'US', bevelled lock with American eagle, 'U.S. Springfield' and dated 1862 on the tail, figured full stock stamped with four 'ESA' inspector's marks opposite the lock, iron mounts comprising trigger-guard and butt-plate, sling loops, and original cleaning/cartridge-extracting rod
