Footnotes

  • This service was made in 1735 for Count Johann Christian von Hennicke (circa 1681-1752), one of Augustus III's Cabinet Ministers and Vice-Director of the Meissen factory from 1739. For a plate from this service see Rainer Rückert, Meissener Porzellan, no. 473 p. 113-4 and pl. 116. The plates and dishes in this service were plain shapes, but the tureens were particularly elaborate, anticipating the new taste that created the eccentric services for Count Bruhl two and three years later.
