A German 50-Bore Wheel-Lock Belt Pistol

With two-stage barrel lightly engraved with triangles and circles forming trefoils at the slighty swamped muzzle and at each end of the octagonal breech, the latter struck with a mark beneath, slender tang, flat lock with enclosed wheel, sliding pan-cover with release button, chiselled swivel safety-catch, cock and cock-spring, fruitwood full stock inlaid with white staghorn panels engraved with foliage and crouching monsters on each side of the fore-end, and with a seated male figure beneath the lock, all within borders of white staghorn engraved with scrollwork and strapwork involving a cherub's head along the bottom of the fore-end, the butt profusely inlaid with engraved staghorn scrollwork, pellets and ball-flowers, compressed ball pommel en suite (minor repairs on one side) inhabited by birds, squirrels, masks and scrolls, and with circular medallion engraved with a bearded helmeted profile head, slender iron trigger-guard with central moulding, side-plate with replacement belt hook with pierced terminal, engraved white staghorn fore-end cap, and later ramrod with engraved horn tip
