Offered for sale by Aston Martin specialists Motorman Engineering Ltd, this DB7 features a one-off engine specially developed by them at a cost exceeding £50,000. Bored and stroked to 3.8 litres, it incorporates a special Crower crankshaft and con-rods, Ross Racing pistons and a Swedish-made supercharger, similar in size to the Eaton original but possessing 40reater performance potential. The cylinder head has been gas-flowed by Motorman, but most importantly underwent a PolyQuad conversion. To date, this DB7 is the only car worldwide to benefit from this unique design concept for four-valves-per cylinder engines, which includes special PolyQuad cams. On the dynamometer this engine recorded maximum power/torque figures of 428bhp at 6,000rpm and 476lbs/ft at 4,000 revs. The torque curve is near flat curve between 3,000rpm (465lbs/ft) and 5,000rpm (445lbs/ft). This compares with original AML factory figures of 335bhp at 6,000rpm and 361lbs/ft at 3,000rpm.
The fuel injection system has been up-rated and the ECU re-mapped so that the car is easy to drive in city traffic but capable of achieving its full potential on the open road. In fact, it can easily be driven in top gear at 1,200rpm, yet when the accelerator is floored it rockets away without the slightest judder. The engine is reported as silky smooth in every gear at any speed or condition. Nothing has been done to the suspension or brakes, both of which, we are advised, would benefit from upgrading. Apart from the engine, one unique addition to the car is the headlamps. Both mains and dipped headlamps have been retrofitted with Hella Xenon HID units, so it is now possible to drive at night at speed. Finished in Ruby Red with magnolia leather upholstery, this unique and exciting British thoroughbred supercar is offered with current MoT and Swansea V5 registration document.
