Summarised by Bill Boddy, that great enthusiast and long time editor of Motor Sport, as 'an outstanding example of the highest conception of British race-bred sports car... one of the World's great motor cars', it was arguably the most sensational car introduced at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. The E-Type offered unrivalled performance at such an affordable level at £2,098 as to attract worldwide attention. Over 140mph was available to a new world of enthusiasts, but Jaguar only produced 760 right hand drive examples for the UK market between 1961 and 1964, with very few flat floor versions at the outset.

Consequently very rare in right hand drive form, this quite presentable early E-type with factory hard top was purchased by the vendor and returned to the UK from New Zealand in 2002 at 58,466 miles. In metallic dark green with beige leather and although featuring interior bonnet locks and intregal bonnet louvres, it has the early-type flat floor. Upgraded with a 5-speed Getrag gearbox and including the original Moss box, uprated calipers by Coopercraft were also fitted in 2002, together with a new Serck radiator. With 60,319 miles showing at the time of inspection, this early E-type roadster comes with bills for some restoration in 1998, Swansea V5, road licence until March 2005, and new Mot to June 2005.
