1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Coupe
Registration no. FYY 474H
Chassis no. 0TO5M163396
Ford created a new class of car almost overnight with the introduction of the Mustang sports coupe part way through the 1964 season. Aimed at the affluent young, for whom a car was as much a lifestyle statement as means of transport, the Mustang succeeded brilliantly, achieving sales in excess of a quarter million by the end of '64. A new, re-styled and enlarged Mustang was Fords big news for 1969. Top-of-the-range model was the awesome Mach 1 that came with a 351cu in (5.7-litre) 250bhp V8 engine as standard equipment.
This example of the fabulous Mustang Mach 1 has the 351cu in (M code) V8 engine with four-barrel carburettor producing 300bhp, and was considered at least the equal of the Shelby 350GT when manufactured. Generously equipped as benefited the flagship model, the Mach 1 included Hi-Back bucket seats, competition suspension, additional instruments, hood scoop and a console-mounted gearshift in its list of standard equipment, to which this particular example adds the factory cost options of Ice Cold air conditioning, Select-Shift Cruise-o-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power front disc brakes, tinted glass and Argent steel wheels. An AACA concours award-winning car benefiting from recent ground-up restoration, it was purchased from Donnie Gould Restorations, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is presented in stunning condition throughout. Finished in Acapulco Blue metallic with black interior, the latter equipped with period radio/cassette and fold-down rear seat, the car has covered an indicated 55,000 miles and is offered with original bill of sale/order sheet, Marti report, fresh MoT, current road fund licence and Swansea V5 registration document.
