Dennis Owen-Rees flew his own aircraft from Pendine Sands during the 1920s. During this period he also produced a two-stroke motorcar, after which he contemplated commercial car production, forming the Aerees Motor Company in 1936. The concept was designed entirely by Dennis, utilising components readily available from other motor manufacturers where possible. By the outbreak of war in September 1939, an initial design had been decided upon, using a 16hp Meadows engine. However, the project had to be mothballed when Dennis naturally joined the RAF. After the war and in a depressed economy, he produced a car made mainly of Wolseley Hornet parts, which still exists today.

The next Aerees, offered here today, was based on 1935 Daimler chassis and running gear with a later Jaguar 3.4-litre XK engine, and christened the 'Merlin'. Loosely styled on an SS 100 Jaguar, with more imposing proportions, it was featured in Classic & Sportscar, September 1984, by Michael Worthington-Williams. Recently completely rebuilt, and stunning in silver metallic with quality red leather and an amazing array of aircraft instruments and control stick gear lever, this unique car is understood to have excellent performance, attracting attention wherever it goes. With Swansea V5, old log book, and MoT until October 2004.
