George Brodrick (1754-1836) succeeded his father to his Irish peerage in 1765. After serving as M.P. for Whitchurch, Hants., 1774-96, he was raised to the peerage of Great Britain in 1796 as Baron Brodrick of Peper Harow, the family estate in Surrey. It was under his patronage that Lancelot 'Capability' Brown reshaped the grounds of Peper Harrow, according to the taste of the grandest landed magnates of the day.
