A late 19th century French bois satine bureau plat
in the Louis XV style, applied with gilt metal mounts, the leather inset serpentine top with a gilt bronze moulded edge and shell cast corners above three frieze drawers, on cabriole legs headed by female mask head mounts and sabots, bearing two paper labels to the underside for 'Michael Butler Ltd, Royal Antique Dealers, Abbey Street, Dublin' ,151cm wide x 79cm deep x 80cm high.

  • The Butler family were established circa 1837 at 33 Liffey Street, Dublin, by Patrick Butler. His son Michael is recored at 126-128 Upper Abbey Street, Dublin between 1885 and 1903. The Butler firm specialised in reproducing Irish 18th century mahogany furniture. A labelled mahogany side table with festoons and grapes is at Lismore Castle, Co. Waterford. Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
