Length 5.03m(16ft.6in.) Beam:1.14m(3ft.9in.)

Built c. 1928 by Denham Brothers, Sandown, Isle of Wight. Clinker spruce, copper fastened on oak timbers, varnished inside and out to the waterline with DEKS OLJE and painted below.

General arrangement: Bow sculling thwart with original bronze swivel rowlocks, adjustable stretcher, stroke sculling thwart with bronze swivel rowlocks, adjstable stretcher, cox seat with original decorated backboard, rudder with yoke and tiller lines, three pine floorboards. Inventory includes cushions, life preservers, a reproduction pot bailer, rope fenders and a fitted white canvas cover. There are three pairs of sculls, an original pair at 3.35m(11ft.)with spoon blades and two pair at 2.44m(8ft.) with straight blades.

The custom made De Graff fully galvanised road trailer is not included in the sale, but is available if required, by negotiation.

  • Originally built for the hire trade on the Isle of Wight, the boat was sold to the Newport Rowing Club in 1962, being sold on in 2000. During 2001/2002 she underwent a professional restoration by Kevin Halcrow at Lakeland Wooden Boats, Kendal, Cumbria and is believed to be in excellent order throughout. WATERCRAFT Magazine issues 22 & 38 detail her restoration.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £2,500 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £2,500 up to and including £300,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
