1914 Scott 532cc
Registration no. BB 1692
Frame no. 432
Engine no. 2484
Refinements to the Scott continued to appear on a yearly basis, 1912 models boasting an improved two-speed gear and an engine increased in capacity to 532cc, up from 486cc. For 1913 the aluminium-alloy water-cooled cylinder head was deleted, the water jackets being sealed by circular plates, while the 1914 model featured a drip-feed lubricator in place of the previously used pump that had proved difficult to regulate. Stronger forks able to withstand the stress imposed by a sidecar were fitted together with a centre stand. This example dates from 1914, the year that a group of Scott workers got together with their illustrious employer to organise what would become the world's most famous one-day trial - the Scott. The machine comes with an old-style continuation logbook issued in 1954 that records David William Lawrence as the owner from June 1963. Paintwork appears original and the machine has the correct 1914 Bosch magneto. Last taxed for the road in 1964, 'BB 1692' has been in long-term museum storage and is described as in need of cosmetic refurbishment. Although at time of writing this machine's Pioneer Certificate had not been found, we are advised that it is on the Sunbeam Motorcycle Club's Pioneer Register (number '290'). Offered with Swansea V5.
