This Scott sidecar outfit dates from 1913, the second consecutive year that a Scott had won the Isle of Man Senior TT. Scott's Isle of Man debut had been made in 1909 when, ridden by Eric Myers, the firm's first TT racer was retired after an accident. Myers and Frank Phillip were entered the following year and this time both Scotts finished, though off the leader-board. The works racers used chain-driven rotary valves in 1911 but without success, the drive's failure prompting a switch to gears for 1912. This would prove a breakthrough year for Scott, works rider Frank Appleby winning the Senior TT having led from the start. It was the first time such a feat had been achieved and the first Senior victory for a two-stroke. Tim Wood duly repeated the trick the following year to give Scott two-in-a-row.
Issued in 1949, this machine's accompanying old-style continuation logbook records David William Lawrence as the owner from April 1963. The machine is presented in original condition but in need of cosmetic improvement having been museum stored for some time. The sidecar was built by none other than Eric Myers at 'No Worries' Depot, Bradford and although repainted, retains its original interior. An entrant in the last two Pioneer Runs, it is offered with current MoT, Swansea V5 registration document and Pioneer Certificate number '79'.
