1948 Wolseley 18/85 Series III Saloon
Registration no. MPJ 787
Chassis no. 318/7756
Engine no. 11450
Although owned by Morris Motors from 1935 and deprived of its own overhead-camshaft engines, Wolseley did at least enjoy the advantage of having the overhead-valve versions of Morris's sidevalves. Towards the end of the 1930s, Wolseleys were updated to Series III specification, and when production of these models recommenced post-WW2, the 18/85 - powered by the pre-war MG SA's 2,322cc twin-carburettor 'six' - was an addition to the range.
The Museum acquired this example to use for film and television work in 1988. Made roadworthy at that time and last MoT'd to 1999, the car boasts a completely original interior but needs a full overhaul before returning to the road. Offered with Swansea V5.
