fine frosted gilt movement signed A.Lange & Sohne and numbered 213140, matt black dial marked from 0-60 and inner 12 hour dial, sweep centre seconds with hack feature, heavy case stamped FI23883, snap on back stamped 213140, together with custom made fitted box, case dial and movement signed 62mm.

Footnotes

Lange & Sohne produced these high quality observation watches for the Luftwaffe, circa 1939 and they became a speciality for the company. The dial is fully luminous and has an inner 12-hour ring read by a short hour hand, with the circumference being graduated for the seconds and numbered at five minute points. It would seem apparent that the layout of the dial was designed to give the pilots a better way of checking the elapsing minutes and seconds. Pre-flight the navigator would set his watch to the second by pulling out the winder during hand setting and thus operating a balance stopping devise.

27.5% on the first £20,000 of the hammer price;
26% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £20,000 up to and including £700,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £700,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
