An Edward VII two-handled presentation rose bowl,
by Z. Barraclough and Sons (of Leeds), Sheffield 1903,
oval, the compressed sides part-fluted, chased and embossed with oval reserves between a band of fruit and scrolling foliage, the cast pierced foot and out-curved border with floral scroll decoration, the oval reserves engraved 'Presented to Richard Borrough Hopkins Esquire, First Town Clerk of Morley (1886-1902) with the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Morley 6th October 1903', the underside stamped Z. Barraclough and Sons Leeds, 93oz, 31 x 46cm overall, on a rectangular ebonised drawer plinth with silver-gilt rectangular floral panels, the front and back inset with enamel panels depicting Morley Town Hall, Morley House, Morley Old Chapel and the entrance to Dartmouth Park, one end with Mr Hopkins' monogram, the other with the Arms of the Borough of Morley, 29 x 35.5cm overall, with a later glazed oak display case. Accompanied by an illuminated scroll with ivory mounts. (2)

    Morley House was the home of the Hopkins family. On the death of Richard Borrough Hopkins his son, Oliver Hopkins, donated the house and grounds, as a Jubilee Gift, to the people of Morley. The house was then demolished to allow an extension to Scatcherd Public Park.

20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.
